Tonight I was unboxing Sakura Miku "Bloomed in Japan" version, and noticed a bunch of new details, which are different from most other Nendoroids. Perhaps because all past Nendoroids have been made in Good Grinning Company's factories in Communist china, and Sakura Miku 500 is the first Nendoroid made at GSC's first manufacturing plant in Japan.
These changes aren't bad, and may or may non repeat in GSC's future Nendoroids from their Japan manufacturing plant, but they are of note. Especially since some details wing in the face of previous characteristics of bootleg figures. (This is definitely not a bootleg Miku; I ordered her straight from Good Smiling.) So, do not be alarmed, if you end up buying this Miku later on and see some of these characteristics. She's still the existent deal if she comes with the instructional booklet, the matte box, trivial plastic sheets between her joints, and doesn't have whatsoever weird looks.
Showtime of all, that matte textured box. Practise non be alarmed. It's absolutely intentional, despite a lot of people having expressed worry online well-nigh the unexpected change. And information technology's not merely a "matte terminate". It'south much more than. You can see all the little fibers, like hand-fabricated paper. It looks like hand-made tissue newspaper was overlaid onto a typical figure box print. Information technology even has a slightly cloudy wait, as if paper actually was carefully overlaid onto the box.
The side window(s) for this box are non the typical cocky-contained circles. They really extend from the front window.
Sometimes figure collecting veterans will tell you to "beware of the pocket-size internal folded flaps!" as that can often be a sign of a bootleg box. Only the genuine Sakura Miku 500 has smaller flaps that do not extend nigh to the center (as seen in Nendoroid Kashu Kiyomitsu's box below).
Expert figure collectors will also tell you lot that genuine Skillful Smile Company figures do not use tape to go on their figure pieces in place, and that only bootlegs will use tape. This is truthful, in terms of the typical office supply shop tape. But Sakura Miku 500 does use a wide strip of semi-adhesive tape to keep some of her parts in the packaging.
Sakura Miku 500′s packaging is also unusual, when compared to what has been established as a typical Nendoroid's. (For comparison, Nendoroid Onodera Kosaki's packaging is on the left; Sakura Miku 500′s packaging is on the correct.)
Rather than seating the figure's pieces in the middle of the packaging's depth, as per a usual Nendoroid, Sakura Miku 500′s parts sit down more closely to the height.
Not merely that, but Sakura Miku 500′s top packaging is shaped more similar a cap, rather than a concave mirror of the bottom packaging, which would only be secured by the vacuum-formed slot/peg shapes. This cap shape is more than common in Figma or figures with multiple layers of packaging for more parts. But Sakura Miku 500 uses the cap shaped packaging for only i layer of parts.
Sakura Miku 500′s cap doesn't accept to exist every bit thick equally the usual half-splitting packaging plastic. As such, the bottom half of Sakura Miku 500′south packaging is nonetheless pretty tall.
One should also note the new shape of the faceplates. Again, this is not the sign of a bootleg. Sakura Miku 500 may be pioneering a new way to save on materials and cost, by omitting that superlative side of the faceplates.
Lastly, Sakura Miku 500′southward textures are a little different. Her hair is sleeky, not matte, dissimilar well-nigh Nendoroids. All this time we had been told that real Nendoroids are always matte. But Sakura Miku 500′due south hair has the feel of sleeky figurine textures, usually expected from armored tokusatsu Southward.H. Figuarts. But stay calm. This is apparently just what GSC is doing at present—at least with Sakura Miku 500. Meanwhile, her faceplates take a more textured matte feel, than usual Nendoroids. It actually feels faintly reminiscent of her paper-textured box, and gives the entire figure/box a cohesive sensibility.
And lastly, this has goose egg to practice with former bootleg characteristics that are part of the 18-carat Sakura Miku 500. I but want to note this adorable sakura motif on her undies.
